A Florida man who's accused of drowning his own daughter allegedly called his wife at the office to tell her what he'd done.

The drama unfolded Monday morning when a woman called 911 and said that her husband, 38-year-old Jeremy Main, called her at work and said he had just killed their toddler.

Deputies responded to the Lake County home and forced their way in to check on the child.

Lake County Sgt. Fred Jones said deputies found the toddler dead in the bathtub but Main was not at the home.

Main subsequently turned himself in to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, deputies said.

He is charged with first-degree murder.

Jones said the motive remains unknown.

"Everyone keeps asking us over and over again, 'Why? Any idea?' We don't, we don't know why," Jones told WKMG. "There's speculation that there could've been marital issues. That's what we're looking into."

Jones said the department has responded to the home before but never for issues concerning the child's wellbeing.

Main has entered a plea of not guilty, according to online court records.
